Clicking to Save Yahoo

Yahoo let Microsoft's deadline pass. It's possible that they may yet give in and accept a better offer from MS. But until they do,. I propose that users start clicking on all ads on Yahoo to improve their ad revenue. If Yahoo starts raking it in again, they may be able to stay independent. Harebrained idea? Maybe. But it can't hurt.

Young Voter Apathy

If Barack Obama wins the Dem nomination, it'll be because the youth vote came out in force to support him. If John McCain wins the general election, it'll be because that same youth vote is too flaky to be relied on. The McCain supporters already know this. That's why they're already set to "Swift-boat" both candidates.

Remember the picture of Obama in a turban that originated from some anonymous Clinton campaign worker (according to Drudge)? I think that was the first shot from mudslingers. They got two birds with one stone. They got to pin the "Muslim" tag on Obama, and they got to pin the blame of the "slinging" on a "Clinton insider". It's only going to get worst.

Google Rakes It In

Despite all the doom and gloom predictions, Google announced HUGE profits yesterday. Investors who have been selling Google down for the past week, now have to watch as the stock climbs 17% in a day! That's what happens when you let "analyst" influence your decisions. All those shorts are really hating Google right about now. I'm just surprised that investors aren't punishing Google for relying on international revenue to increase profits.

That's exactly what big investors do when a company ventures outside its core business. Just look at what happened to Apple when when revenue from the iPod exceeded revenue from Mac sales. The "analysts" felt that Apple was losing focus of its core business and sold them down as a result. Since then, Apple stock has split twice and is currently selling at $161.00 a share.

If you had bought and held Apple stock at $16 a share (near it's lowest point before Steve Jobs returned) your stock today would be worth a split-adjusted $644 a share.

Tyranny is Expensive

San Francisco spent nearly three quarters of a million dollars to host the Olympic torch last week. That's quite a contribution to the Chinese propaganda effort. Good job Mayor Newsom!

Wax On ... Wax Off

OK, this borders on child abuse. What kind of insane, narcissistic, airhead insists on giving her 8-YEAR-OLD daughter a Brazilian bikini wax? What's next? Electrolysis? Braces for baby teeth? Breast implants? She's EIGHT for crying out loud!!! Let her be a kid!

Keeping Yahoo MS Free

When I first heard about Microsoft's plans for Yahoo, I was ready to start an on-line campaign to keep Yahoo MS free. Now it looks like Yahoo is less interested in staying an independent company, and more interested in a bigger check. I guess I'll have to start relying on gmail more now. And I was really liking the new Yahoo Mail app.
