As Pierre Salinger has learned, not everything one reads on the net
is true. Here are just three conspiracy theories I found on the net that
believers accept as the truth, despite the lack of evidence substantiating
their beliefs:
- White House deputy counsel Vincent Foster did not commit suicide, but was murdered as part of the Whitewater cover up.
- The Oklahoma bombing was perpetrated by U.S. agencies such as the FBI and the ATF as part of a plot to generate sympathy for those agencies and prompt congressional legislation which would increase their powers of search and seizure.
-
TWA Flight 800
was accidentally shot down by a stray missle fired from a U.S. Navy cruiser.
Rather than debunk these theories myself, I think you should decide for yourself if these "conspiracies" merit legitimacy. Instead, in response to this phenomenon of rumors becoming the truth, I have decided to place the truth on the 'net for real. |
