Art by MD Wong

I generally work with digital media, especially the web, to create art because I can independently publish my work immediately, and inexpensively. My work is geared toward changing perspectives about various topics, especially politics. My photography reflects my desire to capture what I see and share it with the viewer.

Photography

Through Windows Series

This series explores the multiple framing that occurs as a result of shooting through windows, as well as touches on the confinement of looking out from within.

Landscapes

Images that capture the beauty of nature.

Cityscapes

Urban scenes of San Francisco and elsewhere.

Uniquely Creative

Imagery created through experimentation and exploration.

Ad Art

Posters

These posters are the culmination of the exploration and alteration of advertising messages.

Self-published Comic Books

Free Willie?

"Free Willie?" is a fairly straightforward recounting of actual events. The narrative properties of the comic book form allowed me to steer the reader toward the same conclusion I made when I first learned of the events depicted.

Mr. Law & Order

"Mr. Law & Order" is a parody of the second term of former California Attorney General, Dan Lungren. In this case, my subject is a "super hero" who is determined to "wrap up" crime.

Web Art

Clone Digest

Clone Digest is a fictional webzine whose sole purpose was to conduct an inane survey. My main interest was to see what kind of response would be generated by both the survey, and the subject matter.

Catch Phrases on Muni

This site was inspired by my experiences while riding MUNI on a daily basis. Sensitive viewers beware; there is some explicit language. If this kind of language bothers you then you should not launch this site.

The Truth

This site was inspired by the misadventures of President Kennedy's former press secretary, Pierre Salinger. After the tragic plane crash in 1996, Salinger claimed to have found the truth about the crash from an "official memo" that was posted on the 'net.

Self Portrait

This was my first excercise in web design. The idea was to present work-related awards as a vehicle for a self portrait. Not for the sarcastically impaired.
